Eating food that's too hot has never been a problem

Last week I shared with you our team’s Christmas Dinner at Market Basket Modern Dampa where the typical dreary looking Dampa got revamped with a classy Restaurant design. Way back in 2014, I shared my review about Recovery Food which serves classic Filipino diner food in a chic environment. Whenever I am in the Alabang office, I always try to squeeze in a meal at RF Molito and I think it’s time a revisit article was made for this happy place.
A Perfect Pint has sprung up in recent times right beside RF Molito which is reminiscent of how close the original locations of both were to each other in BGC. An office building recently got completed right across the Molito Complex and a well known BPO company has already plastered its name on top of it. What does all this mean? More customers for the 24 hours open RF of course!
As I’ve said earlier, I have spent many a time eating here. One time I stayed at a Hotel nearby for a super early training in Alabang and I chose to eat breakfast here instead of the hotel buffet. One of the last times I reported for the night shift and I ate here at 3 am in the morning (I was the only customer, it was a Wednesday). And most recently, we had a quick dinner with a colleague who just spent his last day with the company.
I had an affinity for the tapa de morning over brown rice with scrambled egg, after getting over my addiction on the porkqua curry of course, but nowadays I have gone to the extreme. Yes! I have gone over the dark side of the pork! I now can’t get enough of the Doc Sisig.
The Doc Sisig reminds me of my favorite sisig back in college (sorry fellow Bedans, it’s not Uncle Tonton’s) at a little place along Gastambide Street. This sisig was smoky and with little bits of liver in it. Doc Sisig may not be sizzling but the taste is reminiscent of this, just better of course. Squeeze fresh calamansi juice over it and add some of the mayo served on the side and you’ll be treated to a hearty sisig dish. Just make sure your heart can take it or else…
Aside from the Doc Sisig, there have been several other additions to the menu since 12/2014. The Lecheng Kawali came about the same time as the Doc Sisig and is their version of Lechon Kawali (duh) or deep fried brined pork belly. This comes with their proprietary liver sauce that is paler than Mang Tomas but they say tastes the same. There’s also the Kebabaridad and Chicken Hala Ka, dishes that remind me of the food you can buy on the numerous Halal Street Carts on the streets of NYC. My manager, whom I was with in NYC, always orders the Hala Ka. We munched on the things daily during our month and I guess she acquired a taste for the stuff.
I have also ventured outside of the rice bowls and have tried several other items on their menu. The Barcia’s Strip is a good starter though I wish the pork strips could have been cooked crispier. I have also tried this in the UP Town Center Branch (Haziel and I were also the only ones in the store at 3 am in the morning then) and they cooked the pork the same. The Turondots are perfect, you gotta try that. Beware of the sagolaman and it’s deceiving low price of below 100 Php. It’s served on their regular bowl and you’ll have a hard time to finish it on your own after downing a whole rice bowl.
Ruminations…
Still awesome. I might stop eating the Doc Sisig soon for health reasons but at least there’s still loads of options to choose from. There’s always the Tapa de Morning. I don’t report to the night shift anymore but I still troop on over to RF for dinner when I can. They’ve got plenty of customers during dawn now to replace me anyway ;p
If you also like eating at RF Molito give me “Hell Yeah!”, now throw me a can of Beer! I’m Stone Cold Steve – Sorry I got carried away there. Uhm… See you around RF the next time I’m in here?
