I love drinking coffee but don’t really know anything much about it. I just tend to trust that the coffee shop knows what they’re doing and give me a cup that’s worthy of the price tag.

I call the Satchmi store as the Perfect Coffee Spot in SM Megamall because they’re not telling you they’re the best coffee spot. Heck, they don’t really tell you that they’re a coffee shop at all!

It’s really a music store that focuses on vinyls. They sell classics to the more modern artists, and a wide range of genre. I remember staying here one day and then the Frozen soundtrack started playing. And you know what? I actually liked it.

The combination of good quality sounds, beautiful lighting and rustic design,  all with the fabulous coffee just make it the perfect coffee spot. A welcome alternative from the hustle and bustle of other popular places in the mall like Starbucks, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and St. Marc Cafe.

You can just stay here and chat with your friends, listen to some of the available vinyls, or buy some of your own. Don’t have a player? They’ve got you covered! They also sell portable, hip looking vinyl players at fairly reasonable prices.

Their coffee is good. I don’t really know how to describe it but I’ll tell you this. I bought a cappuccino to go, took a sip, and totally stopped right in the middle of the hallway of the mall with my eyes closed.

Latte

Is that a clover?

I totally love their lattes. I didn’t get the same moment I had with the Cappuccino, but I still loved the balance of the milk and espresso in this. It’s heavy, creamy, and delicious. But, more importantly, it gave a zing that is really what I’m always looking for. That welcome jolt of caffeine. This isn’t just a pretty drink, it also serves its purpose.

Is that a rosetta?

Looking around the instagram posts for Satchmi’s coffee, and I mostly see latte art that’s constructed like this rosetta. This was on a different visit by the way.

To me, latte art shows that the barista took the time to make my drink pretty. It’s akin to plating food from a chef. Having said that, the most important thing in a cuppa is still the quality of the coffee itself. Satchmi’s is somewhat lacking in art but deliver perfectly on quality and taste. To me that’s really absolutely fine.

Slow Brew Coffee

This was my first try at slow brew and I’m mixed on this. I usually take my coffee really black or a latte. This cup was more delicate than my usual americano. I was unfamiliar with it, didn’t understand what it was really supposed to give me, but I still downed it fairly quickly. It was still good coffee.

Mocha

My lady ordered the Mocha at the end. She loved it, and I think I did too. The chocolate is not bitter, not strong as I get sometimes from other shops. This was also taller than the latte, sweeter,  and is a real quality drink. Plus the art was awesome.

Ruminations…

I know that the name of this blog is FoodMetroManila and there is not a single food item on this review. Pardon me for that, but I just felt that the wonderful ambience and awesome coffee was really worth talking about.

I love hanging out here at Satchmi. I can’t get enough of the coffee. However, I feel like buying a player of my own to enjoy the good quality music at my place. That’s not really a problem.

I pretty much have nothing else to say here. If you’re looking for the perfect coffee spot in SM Megamall, then head on over to Satchmi.
